The winter can be a cold and sometimes even dreary time of year. It often results in spending an awful lot of time indoors, which means less outdoor exercise and playtime for your pet. Well, good news! Spring has arrived and we couldn’t be more excited.

With the snow melted and the flowers in bloom, it’s the perfect time to dive into some tail wagging spring activities with your family pet! After being cooped up inside all winter, your pets are likely itching to get outside and partake in some fun adventures! It’s now the perfect time to get out of the house and let all of that pent up energy out.

Not sure what where to start? Bivvy has provided you with a list of pawsome spring activities for you to partake in with your pet!

Hiking

There’s nothing quite like getting some fresh air and seeing breathtaking views while on a hike! This is a great activity for you and your doggo to do, as it provides both of you with plenty of exercise and fun. Looking for some great trails near you? Check out our list below of some of our favorite spots!

  1. Four Pass Loop - Snowmass Village, Colorado. This incredible hike has mountain views for days! This is a rather long hike and is often done on backpacking trips, so make sure to pack lots of water and plenty of dog treats.
  2. Whiteoak Canyon to Cedar Run Loop - Stanley, Virginia. This hike comes with beautiful views and a waterfall! What more could you ask for?
  3. Little Wildhorse and Bells Canyon Loop - Ferron, Utah. This Utah canyon hike is perfect for those who like to hike with their dog off-leash. It’s recommended that pet parents put a harness on their doggo in case they need some assistance with some of the trickier spots in the hike.
  4. Vickery Creek Trail - Roswell, Georgia. This woodsy hike is relatively easy and has several small streams perfect for your pup to dip their paws in! Georgia dog parents, let us know how you like this loop.
  5. Mount Baldy Beach Trail - Michigan City, Indiana. This beautiful national park trail in Indiana takes you down a scenic path leading you to the lakeshore. It’s recommended to visit at sunrise or sunset for breathtaking views.

Keep in mind that hiking can be a dangerous activity. Make sure to take the proper precautions for both you and your pet so that you can both stay safe. Bivvy pet insurance provides coverage for unexpected accidents that occur. Having dog insurance you can count on can bring you peace-of-mind.

Pet Play Date

Do you have a fellow pet parent that’s also itching to have some fun with their family pet? Reach out to them and plan a pet play date! Not only will your pet love socializing with a friend, but you can also spend some quality time with a pal as well.

Yard Games

Outdoor adventures can be done right from your backyard or local park too! From frisbee to agility courses, there’s so much fun to be had with your family pet. Not only will they love the fun activities that you partake in, but your pet is guaranteed to love spending some quality time with their owner.

Here are a few of our favorite games to play with pets:

  1. While this game can be basic, it can still be loads of fun! It also provides your pup with plenty of exercise.
  2. Dog treasure hunt. Pick a few hiding spots around your yard to hide your doggo’s favorite treats! After you’ve finished hiding all of the treats, you can bring your pup into the yard and ask them to sniff for the treasure. Make sure to praise your dog once they’ve struck gold!
  3. DIY agility course. This game requires owners to get a bit creative, but it can be easy to do! Simply set up cones, hula hoops or whatever other miscellaneous household objects you have around your yard to create some fun obstacles. Not only will your pet get some exercise, but they will also be mentally stimulated too!
